Almost 40% of respondents reported an equal gender split in the group encounter, while a further 30% reported a majority of men taking part and 30% a majority of women.
The survey was conducted 1.5 million Australian online daters, which drew 8763 responses. Almost as many women as men instigate the idea of group sex - 46 per cent compared with 54 per cent.
